Blog comment policy

Lots of people asking about the blog comment policy. I don’t have one. I was going to disable comments, and suggest people instead respond on Twitter, but some people thought comments could be useful for longer-form responses (and allegedly some people aren’t on Twitter). So I’ve enabled them for now, moderated for boring legal reasons, and will see how it goes. If the comments section becomes a ghost town I’ll remove it.

We welcome comments from readers, particularly where there are technical errors or omissions in our reports. Please try to keep the comments away from political and personal issues, and focussed on the topic of the article or report. Unfortunately we have to have some moderation to prevent spam; the first time you comment there will be a delay until your post is manually moderated (sometimes minutes; sometimes hours or even days). Once you’ve had a post accepted then all future posts should appear immediately.

  1. What about if it becomes a troll-town? Or full of arguing people? Could you remove it in those cases too, please?
